Spam ... from China ?

It is good to see Google's spam filter working so well, shame we get it in the first place.

However, I have had a big increase, from, I think China, in the past couple of days ... 116 today, so far.

I have to laugh still ... this is being recived to an email address that I have never used and my "normal" email hardly sees any spam at all. Strange.

Anybody else notice this ...

Not had much from China myself, most of mine seems to be Russian. I'll do you a swap ;)
 
Any offers for Russian porm spam & adverts for Viagra?
I really dont need viagra, ask the other half!!

I did notice that about a month ago, on a long dormant bit bucket account I have. I nuked them, and none since then. I also noticed, during the same time frame, a huge increase in BFI attacks against an SSH honey pot at work. Same deal..... huge number of attempts - and then nothing. If it happens again I'll keep the logs, and post them.

I have never given away my email address & only a few trusted people know it.
But i get about 20 spam emails a day, Why?

Quite often spam bots can guess at e-mail addresses simply by trying anything - I have some accounts I've set up for certain projects at Uni and they get spam even though only one or two people know it. Sometimes sites that you sign up for may spam e-mails, primarily offer sites (this site doesn't of course though!).
 
I see, must admit that i seem to be getting ones as mentioned before for either porn or viagra.
But getting spam fron China?
Can Muckshifter read chinese then.:p
 
No, not Chinese, a few swear words in Cantonese & ordering a beer, oh and in & out and can find the toilets. ;)


My point of posting was to see if anybody else has had a "sudden" influx of spam from the far east. :thumb:
