On some of my many pages it turns out that whenever I hit a return Wor
skips an extra space so that I have spaces between paras instead of th
usual arrangement of single spacing with indents.

I've searched everywhere to find how to turn this off but can't fin
the answer.

And I don't know why it does it on some pages and not on others.

I want to get rid of this annoyance forever.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Have a look at your page layout - if this extra spacing is appearing on just
some pages could be you have vertical alignment set to centered ?

Otherwise, if it's related to particular paragraphs, look at the style and
paragraph formatting - do you have space before/after set?

If this appears just on some pages, it's most likely that the vertical
alignment (Layout tab of Page Setup) is set to Justified instead of Top.

Another thing that can help is to turn off some of MS Word's
AutoFormatting.

Go to Tools | AutoCorrect and click on the tab labeled AutoFormat As You
Type

The last option in the box is Define styles based on your formatting.

Uncheck it so that MS Word won't try to automatically create styles for
you.

Best,
