As long as it's a standard keyboard probably not, I just plugged in a new
Ms mouse and it came with about 150K of software that allows for a lot of
extra functionality (magnification, left and right side scrolling) that was
never seen when mice were pretty much strictly point and click devices, and
it wouldn't work at all without those drivers. So if the keyboard you had
in the attic is old and there aren't a lot of extra functions like volume
controls or flash card readers, the standard Windows drivers should pretty
much do it for you. This keyboard of mine is circa Win95 and it just
plugged in and worked on my XP system when my wireless went belly up. When
and if you get a new one, your probably going to find some software drivers
that arrive packaged with it to support any new hardware bells and whistles
that they could have included... on the other hand, you'll be the first to
know if it's missing anything.. <g>
