spacebar opens address field??

Help! My buddies PC a Win2K box with all current updates. In explorer when
typing any time you hit the spacebar the address field drop down appears.
It will not function as a spacebar to allow you to type in text fields. I
uninstalled all the darned
search bars he had loaded on and ran a virus/spyware scans but still cant
get the spacebar to function normally. Just IE6 no where else in windows is
this happening.
Any ideas? Bueller?

Which Address field drop down? E.g. the one you get when you
press F4 (aka TypedURLs) or the one you get when you press
Alt-d,Delete,CursorDown (aka AutoSuggest).

It will not function as a spacebar to allow you to type in text fields.

What kind of text fields? Is AutoComplete for Forms fields involved?

Sounds like it could be a practical joke, e.g. caused by scripting
or custom style sheet. Check for the latter in Accessibility dialog
(Alt-T,O,Alt-e).

See if modifiers of SpaceBar are also being intercepted.
E.g. Ctrl-Space or Shift-Space should both produce spaces
in text fields but by being modified might not be considered
for interception.
