Hello People,

I have a New Toshiba Notebook A135 with Vista Premium (English, USA),
installed.
It came with a 120GB HDD.
I 'removed' all the junk game programs from Wild Tanget and when I did a
'properties' on the "C" drive - it actually showed MORE space used than
before I removed the pgms! Anybody have idea what gives???

TNX a lot!

Tom

Tom,
Did you clean out your wastbasket? If you 'deleted' as your subject line
indicates the stuff would have gone there. If necessary the system would
recover that space as the drive got low.

Hi, Tom.

As Michael said, when Vista deletes a file, it puts it into the Recycle Bin,
just in case you deleted it by mistake and may need it back again. So it is
still taking up disk space until you right-click the icon and click Empty
Recycle Bin.

If you are SURE you want to delete a file, you can hold down the Shift key
while clicking Delete; this bypasses the Recycle Bin and deletes the file
immediately.

Michael & R.C.,

Sorry for the confusion, the installed programs were "Removed" not deleted,
using the Vista add/remove procedure.

Please tell me why space free shrinks instead of grows!

Tnx,
Tom

Tom,

The act of removal is included in the restore point. If you check your
restore points available you will probably find a restore point that was
made at the time of the program removal. This takes up considerable space
and, until the space reserved for restore points is exhausted, disk
available space will continue to drop. If Vista determines that space is
getting low for the user, Vista will reclaim space from its areas for the
user to use.
