How can i get my icons back-after i installed Sp4 they
all changed to unknown altough the applications work fine?

Also the office files don't show as office files but
opens up office.

Please let me know if anyone else has the same problem or
maybe a solution?

I already checked file associations, they are just fine.

It's kind of a pain, but you can change the desktop icon of any program via
the shortcut properties.

It is an equal pain, but you can change the icon for any type of file. Open
Windows Explorer. Navigate: tools ->folder options file types -> advanced -
change icon.

Icon files are either stored as a .ico file, or stored within a .exe or
..dll. You'll have to really hunt for the proper icon.

Petitioning for a more elegant solution.
 
Try deleting the C:\WINNT\ShellIconCache. file (note it
has no file extension) then reboot. Had to do this many
times under win98.

Hi Folks,

I have installed SP4 and do NOT seem to have any major issues. What I
would like to know is that since my system is not heavily loaded with
software, I may not be seeing those problems that others are
experiencing. i intend to deply sp4 on all production system within
this month.

Please post any issues that you encountered with w2k servers running
Exchange 2k.

maybe ShellIconCache file got corrupted. Locate it and rename or delete
it, then restart to have Windows rebuild it.(it is a hidden file in
C:\WinNT on default installs)
