SP4 update prevents ALL Internet access

Nothing will connect to the net now, not an email client, newsreader
(currently using different computer), browser....nothing?

I've seen this question asked a couple of times, but no potential solutions
offered.

I have a brand new install of win2kpro that worked fine prior to update
which was directly to SP4 - none of the previous updates.
 
did you allow backup to be made (or do you have a system
backup) during install ? remove sp4 and see if resolves

by careful if using system restore or ghost etc that you do
not re introduce virus or other problems

Yes. Took me awhile to figure out how to uninstall the service pack (totally
new to 2kpro after too long with win98) but finally managed.
Internet connection restored, but now, of course, I have no service packs
installed so still vulnerable. Next task is to install the SP3 patch, I
guess, but I have a Firewall established now so I guess I'm somewhat
protected, yes?
