I am trying to install SP4 by utilizing a GPO. I have
set up a seperate GPO and installation package for each
of my OU's that points to the UNC path of the local
installation server. The installation package works
great for users that are on the subnet that contains both
of my DC's. The problem occurs on my other 12
subnets...the installation package will not run. The
funny thing is that when a remote user, who typically
logs into one of these "remote" subnets, comes to the
admin site that contains the DC's the installation
package tries to install (and it is pulling the install
from the remote install server). Any suggestions?

I believe it might be due to your link speed.

The default break point for certain GPO functions to decide whether they
apply or not is 500k link speed. If the link is slower than this, or even if
it it's rated faster but there's excessive traffic so when the algorithm
decides it's slower than 500k, then they won;'t get applied. You can look in
the default domain GPO or the GPO you're doing this in and adjust these
settings to accomodate under the computer section\system\gpo I believe
(drill down and you'll find them).
