I am having the exact same problem. The only one I can't
view is the application tab. It says there are 1703
entries but I can't view them. It seems to have started
after a hotfix was installed. I am running SP4 and
haven't had any problems from that.

I am also having the same issue. Can you please reply with a fix.

It seems that after i ran a sp4 updated to windows2000 the whole event
viewer went blank....

have you guys attempted to delete the main file for event viewer to
see if it gets recreated... please reply.

thanks for your time.

I have 2 clients running Win2k and SP4 with the same problem, and this
is how I fixed it. It appears that after SP4 is installed, the file
that contains the settings pertaining to how big and how often data
should be kept in the event logs, get's corrupt.

To fix it, do the following:
My Computer > Manage > Event Viewer. Right click on Application >
Properties. Click on Clear Log > then Restore Defaults. You are asked
"Are you sure?" Answer yes. Click on Apply > OK.

Do this for all the Event Viewer entries, ie. Application, File
Replication, System etc. Once you've done that on all of them. Close
out the MMC, and go back in. You might need to hit F5 the first time
you go back in to each log to force it to read the current log file.

I just did this, and it works great.
