Hi, anybody else having this problem. Have W2K SP3. Two
things:

1)When installing SP4, on reboot, often get message: The
instruction at "0x......." referenced memory
at "0x.......".The memory could not be "read. This
message may or may not come back on future reboots.

2) When installing SP4, the install usually crashes. To
get around this one, I need to run the install from a DOS
prompt or close explorer before after it starts. That's
just hilarious!

Any help on number 1) would be appreciated. Any laughs
you get out of number 2) are shared.

Forgot to mention, this is a clean install, with Novell
Client 4.83, IE55SP2, GroupWise, no Anti-virus running,
Office 200 SR-1.

After three failed attempts at sp4 and one failed attempt
at sp3, I've finally been able to install sp4! See MS
Article 813747. Even though this error and resolution are
related to sp3, after I installed a fresh version of
Windows Installer I thought I might as well try sp4 again
and it worked. Good Luck!!

I have a problem with windows explorer dumping me
everytime I click on it. Even if I right click on
explorer on the start button, I get the message that
explorer.exe is shutting down. Is this similar to your
problem?

Jim
