But I tried to download the 69.9 MB update from Windows Update 4...count
'em...4 times, and each time it failed. I was up to date on EVERYTHING
too!!! I also read posts here and learned I should disable real time
protection on Defender, I disabled both Spybot and Zone Alarm security
suite...and made sure no extra programs were running. Still it failed all 4
times. Then I decided to try the other way...the way a poster named John
(who posted yesterday at 5:24) did it, and voila...like him...success! I
don't know *why* it worked, it just did. Now it DOES say not to download if
you're just doing it for one machine, and I was, but from reading the other
threads from John's post I saw no problems, and nobody complaining so I did
it. Here's the link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displ

Now it did say it was a 316 MB download, but my hard drive doesn't appear to
be 316 MB less than what it was. I don't know why that is. But for those of
you who have not had success through WU, you might want to try this way. A
question...is there anyway I can get the *failed* updates off my add remove
programs in the control panel. (It's the SP3 updates that failed)

Perhaps...if I knew what *clean boot mode* was.

Maybe if you read the article that was used in the below link you will know
the answer to that question....it is there.

If you read my post, you'd understand I HAVE SP3, therefore I don't NEED to
read the link. I have it already, it's in my computer. Should I uninstall it
just to
re-install it? That doesn't make much sense to me. I guess it does to you
though.

If you read my reply you will see that I was replying to your statement
about, "if I knew what *clean boot mode* was." That IS explained in the
link!!!

Which I didn't look at because as I said before...there was no *need* to
since I already have SP3 and am quite satisfied with it!!! If someone wanted
to explain what it was... fine...but I was not, and will not research it
because as I said, I HAVE IT!!!!!! What don't you understand about that???
