Mike

What anti-virus software is installed?

How much RAM memory? What CPU?

How large is your hard drive and how much free disk space?

Is the computer left on 24/7?

When did you last check Event Viewer for Warnings and Error Reports?

Is the system being regularly scanned for malware? If yes by what
software?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for letting us know about the problems on your computer uncovered by
Windows XP SP3.

As it seems you are not asking for help - I do hope you enjoy your decision
to switch to a macintosh. They are fine machines with their own set of
problems (like anything else) - so I wish you luck.

You should likely sell your PC to someone who can utilize it properly
(include your Windows XP media so they can format it and install Windows XP
clean on it - it should work just fine once whatever issue was on it is
removed - which formating would likely do - though not the recommended way
of fixing such things - it is what the new owner should do anyway...) - plus
you could use the extra cash to help you purchase the new machine.

If you decide you would like to keep the machine in question - you can
easily uninstall SP3 (Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs --> Show
Updates checkbox) and then properly clean up and prepare your machine for
SP3 (or don't - leave it SP2 if you are so inclined - although I do not
recommend that as you obviously have uncovered an existing issue).

The choice - of course - is yours. Resolve yourself to the false fact that
the part you installed totalled the system - or remove the part and figure
out the problem it uncovered before putting the part back on.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
