SP3 Database Install Run-time error 339; Component MSCOMCTL.OCX...

The XP Embedded Database I use is running on a server that does not have the
development tools on it. I tried to run the SP3 installer and get:

Run-time error '339':

Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly
registered: a file is missing or invalid.

I guess I need to try installing from one of the workstations with the
development tools.

The log is less than helpful, and the installer says it finished with no
indication that the install failed.

I installed the missing .ocx file, and got an installation failure:

Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 3 Installer

Cannot find a valid Windows XP Embedded database installed.

Setup cannot continue.

No objects or files were imported to the database .

So again, this seems to indicate I probably have to run the database update
on the workstation and not the database server.

Running the database installer on the client (developer workstation without
a local database) did upgrade the server properly over the network link to
the XP Embedded SQL database.
