I ordered the cd so I downloaded from that. I want to
reformat my drive now so do I need service pack 1 on my
computer before I can download 2 ,or can I just download
service pack 2.
Also I want to partition my drive. I have 512 mb. and
would like to know what the norm is for each drive size.
I want to make 2 partitions.(XP Home)
You can email me at (e-mail address removed) or answer
here. Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 165.89 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
Page File Space 1.10 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys

That is what my system information says and I will be
starting new when I reformat.

You only need SP2.

For the OS/software partition (usually C:), I suggest that the size
at least is 10 GB (but I recommend 15 to 20 GB), and then the rest
for a data partition.

That is not the hard drive. It's the RAM you're talking about. But anyway,
back to your original question. You do not need SP1 if you have SP2
available on a CD especially if you're very knowledgeable on computers. If
you don't want to take a chance however, I would suggest that you install
the basic XP, create a restore point, install SP1, create a restore point,
and then install SP2.
