SP2 spoiled a game

After installing SP2 on my XP machine, one of games
causes BSOD (page fault in nonpaged area) when the game checks
presence of it's CD - probably something related to protection.
This BSOD occurs even there is no CD in the drive.
Had to uninstall SP2, and the game is ok again.
So... SP2 is not quite there yet.

Have you looked in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer and
clicked on Application in the left panel. This will reveal events in the
right pane, among which may be yellow triangles with exclamation points in
them or red circles with white X's. Those are errors which can be
right-clicked, with a selection of Properties to view a portion of the error
message and possibly lead to the solution to the issue.

I'd suggest you review the events with XP SP2 installed if you can reproduce
the error. Generally such a situation only needs an update of perhaps your
graphics card. You might also check for a BIOS update for your motherboard.
A lot of manufacturers have issued updates for SP2.

Thank you Chris.
I've checked the eventlog and haven't find anything relevant.
There are some warnings, but they were there also before SP2.
I don't think it is video driver - after SP2, the video looked ok. The
bluescreen seems to be caused by CD access - either by ATAPI.SYS or some
filter drivers (Nero, etc.).

You could try temporarily uninstalling Nero, reboot and see if you've still
got the issue.
