I installed SP2 on my standalone home PC. Now it won't let me add or remove
programs or hardware, keeps telling me I don't have Administrator privileges.
Upon start-up it shows no users to click on for logon. I can't even
uninstall or do System Restore to get back to pre-SP2 functionality. How can
I correct this?

I assume I had admin access to my PC before I downloaded SP2 because I could
add and remove programs, but I always logged on as "Owner" because that was
the only choice given. I never set up any other users. My wife just used
the same setup. My PC came from Gateway with XP Home already installed. I
appreciate your help.

System won't let me re-install SP2 (by download from MS XP website) because
it says I don't have administrator privileges. There's a Catch-22! I tried
using Safe Mode to logon as administrator but it still won't let me change
users/programs etc because "you must have administrator privileges..." Am I
forced to do a clean install? I have the OEM XP Home disc that came with the
PC. Lee

I bailed out and did a clean install with the OEM disks supplied with the PC.
The whole process turned out to be simpler and quicker than I expected.
Thanks for trying to help. Lee
