To all who post or browse this board, if you solve an
issue related to a problem with MM2 and SP2, please post
what you did to resolve it. I've read a lot of posts
concerning MM2 problems from people who didn't have them
until after SP2 was installed. I've seen replies that
suggest certain things with "let us know if it worked", or
something of that nature, but no follow ups. I'll assume
the suggestions didn't work but I don't know.

I for one don't have any issues yet as I just upgraded to
SP2, but at least MM2 does open . . . whew! I have cleared
out my collections as one poster suggested solved his
crashes. I haven't seen if that solved issues for anyone
else. I've also seen a suggestion to create a new profile
to see if that works.

I like to browse the board to see what issues people are
having and what are the solutions so if I have the same
problem I won't have to post and wait for replies. I'll
know in advance. I'm sure I'm not the only one, so any
postings concerning SP2 I think will help alot of people.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm seeing some issues, some mis-information, some good suggestions,
etc..... the normal mix. As I sort them out, I add info to the Setup > MM2.1
page of my website. As you do your postings, I'd appreciate any comments
about what should be added or revised on the page.

PapaJohn,

Like I said I haven't had any major issues, like some
people, from the beginning so I'm hoping I won't have any
with SP2. If I I have any comments or suggestions I'll be
sure to send them along. There is so much info to get from
THIS board, I'd like to see a FAQ section. Maybe there is
one, as I know you can access this board via many ways,
and I just haven't come across it. We see lots of repeated
questions, most of which get referred to your site. I'd
also like to see a message across the top of the board
that says, "don't use MOVIE MAKER in the subject line".
Pretty much why one is accessing this board in the first
place. :o) Sorry, just a slight vent there!

Your colleague's geek husband may be right in some respects but the issues
with SP2 are not so great for normal users. So his advice to you not to
install it is not correct. According to my wife I too am a computer geek :-)
and my advice is to be cautious and install it anyway. The benefits it
brings far exceed the minor compatibility issues with rogue applications;
all of which should now be providing the patches for them to work with SP2.

You have the choice to turn on the System Restore prior to installation,
which means one can turn back the clock if one get into unsurmountble
problems after the install.

System restore doesn't work properly. Fragments of SP2 never leave the

I will be surprised if it is like that... but anyway, one have many choices
including, ghosting the hard disk or taking backup by other means.

I installed sp2 sbout 2 weeks past. Just a couple of issues with a program
or 2. Easily worked around & totally no regrets. I've now installed it on 6
new computers i built for friends.
There are always some sort of problems but nothing major.

"rmarko" I had to smile when reading your post about sp2 not leaving system.
A friend called me to come by his house & help with some problem he was
having with the computer. He was in the midst of a windows automatic upgrade,
which was taking too long.
I tried to cancel the operation & it wouldn't stop. I rebooted the system &
it wouldn't boot back into windows $%*&*.
I formatted C:\ installed windows XP pro, then did a system restore from a
backup I'd put on an extra HD in his computer.. What a pain.....
