Do you mean you are having a problem getting to plain-vanilla everyday sites? and 9 out of 10 times they fail ?
What site can you get to? Which (say 2) site can't be reached?

Was there a firewall before you got SP2?

Yes on its a failure getting to everyday sites. No firewall before SP2.
encryption is at 128 bit.

When I switched ISPs going to Comcast from Earthlink (and to broadband) my
Norton Personal Firewall stopped me from surfing.. Try this on the
off-chance it will work - go into I.E., click tools\ternet-ptions, and
delete everything you can (cookies, temp files, and history). Now close
out all I.E. Windows so you are at your desktop, then try to connect again
using your modem.

Hello JN,

Do follow "D's" advice on deleting the I.E. browser cache files. Then do post back with your status.

Who is your ISP? Check with their support (& or web support site) to make sure your internet connection settings are what they need to be.

Does your email program still work? is it a POP3 account? (Trying to see if at least email access is working).

Bring up IE browser.
Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Internet Options >

Security Tab/ click on green icon Trusted Sites/click Sites button.

Look very closely at line that says:
"Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" to *clear* the selection.
(e.g. You want that to be clear or un-checked (un-ticked)).

Click OK / Apply changes.

You need to be sure to delete your temp internet cache files on
a regular & consistent basis. I.E. Tools>Internet Options >Advanced --scroll list.
Advanced Tab>>Security sub-section:
"Enable" (click on to activate or tick) "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed".

Apply changes to I.E.
