SP2 Install issues

I am attempting to install SP2 and when the install gets
to the "backing up registry" phase, I notice my harddrive
stops and nothing seems to happen. I have let it sit for
an hour and when checking the tasks it indicates that the
install is "not responding". Any ideas on how to over
come this? Thanks in advance

It might be a registry access issue.
