What do you mean "not able to turn off the firewall"? What have you
tried and what was the result? You can disable the Windows Firewall
from its applet in Control Panel. If for some reason that doesn't work
for you, stop and disable the Windows Firewall service:

Start>Run services.msc [enter]

Scroll down to the Windows Firewall service.

I am not able to disable it, it is shawdowed out and it will not let me turn
it off. I have tried going into my network connection properteries and
turning it off there and I have tried going into the control panel and into
the firewall itself and it still will not let me disable the firewall. I
will give what you said a try and see what happens. Thank you.

After installing Service Pack 2, the Windows firewall has its own Control
Panel icon. Try use this icon.

Try the XP Help and Support Centre under Firewall:

Start Button > Help and Support > Firewall > Turn Windows Firewall on or
off.

Thank you "Hermit" but I had already tried this before posing my question to
the newsgroup and it did not help me any.
