i have a home based network,

with SP2 Firewall enabled on both PCs,

however, i am trying to establish a rule so that all communications between two internal IPs to any port/application

how can i do it.... i think many people have the same issue as well,

vbnetway,

Yer i think I know what your saying, you want to
basically say the IP xx.xx.xx.xx can access any port on
your PC. And Vice versa.

As far as I am aware this feature is not implemented in
the SP2 Windows Firewall, you can add individual ports to
a specific IP, but from my take you want to enable all
ports in one go.

If this is a specific security need, I would advise using
ZoneAlarm or Norton Firewall, as both these products have
that capability.

Hope this helps

That's what you get for free - if you want versatility and
customization, you'll need to disable the XP built in firewall and
install a 3rd party firewall. You know, MS can only do so much
without stepping over the mystical, magical monopolization boundary.
They put too much functionality in, they get class action sued as a
monopoly.

yes, this is exactly what i mean,

SP2 FW will be installed and enabled on most XP machines from now
on, and many people have home based networks of which they want to
access,
so i don't think it is viable option to install and 2nd firewall and
disable the one that is already there.
i tried playing around with windows firewall, there is an option to
open one port to a specifie IP or ip range, but it allows one port
only, that is limitation in my opinion, it should allow us to specify
multiple ports or port range...!!
