SP2 - field update? DBF problem

I have an existing XPe SP1 load that has been running fine for a few
years and hundreds of units. I haven't touched Target Designer in over
a year. I'm rusty on this.

But now I get reports that my Jet ADO MDB link to a DBase 3 DBF/NDX
file is not working correctly. I verified that what seems to be
happening is additions to the DBF/NDX through a ADO SQL statement are
not taking effect immediately to the NDX/DBF apps.

I tested this on my desktop XP-SP2 and it works fine. But on my XPE-SP1
- it doesn't. I looked and the DLLs in "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\Ole DB" are different from my XPE-SP1 to my XP-SP2. I
tried to do a surgical strike and upgrade them but it didn't take - too
many dependancies that I could detect including one to "xpsp2res.dll".

So anyway - I went looking for a XPE-SP1 QFE that maybe would address
this issue and low and behold I see that XP-SP2 was available.

Boy - was I out of the loop.

So I did some looking around and I have these questions:

1 - Can I aquire SP2 with my SP1 OEM number? I have registered and I
am awaiting approval from
https://microsoft.embeddedoem.com/register.asp site.

2 - Does Microsoft have a field update package to take existing SP1
systems to SP2? I saw some posts in early 2005 that said they were
working on it - but didn't see anything since.

3 - Has anyone else experienced similar problems with DBF/NDX access
and do they know of a solution? Will SP2 fix this?

Thanks,
Scott Kelly

1) You can get the SP2 with your OEM number. You should get access within a
couple of days...at the most and be able to download SP2.

2) Microsoft abandoned the effort to field upgrade devices from SP1 to SP2,
or at least that is what I was told.

3) Can't help you with this, have not heard of this problem. Sorry!
