SP2 caused slowdown in speed

Since I installed XP SP2, I notice my PC has slowed down,
particularly when booting up and going from user to
user. Is there anything I can do to speed it back up to
where it was before installing SP2?

Good advice from Carey Frisch but forget to question what speed of
computer you are running and the amount of RAM. If you are running a
system with a CPU in the range of less than 1 GHz to 1.2 GHz and a low
amount of RAM, SP2 will slow you down, as a number of new services are
implemented in it's installation, and the resources usage of the
existing ones has increased marginally. If you have a small amount of
RAM (192 MB or less) buy more, RAM is pretty cheap these days. While SP2
on Home recommends a minimum 128 (Pro 256), I wouldn't install anything
short of 512 on any XP machine. If you have an older CPU you may want to
trim the services back that run in Windows XP SP2 using the guide at
http://www.blkviper.com. If you have oodles of RAM and a fast CPU -
follow Carey's advice (and maybe still check out Black Viper;)
