I installed SP2 (from the Microsoft CD that I got in Staples) on both
my desktop and my laptop. The installation was successful on both
machins. When I run Windows update on the desktop, everything is fine.

On the laptop when I run Windows Update, I still get the statement
asking me to turn on automatic updates (It is off) as the best method
to get SP2. Can I get that to not display? It is a nuisance.

Hi Jerome :-)

Try disabling the Auto-update feature and see if it helps.

If this does not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

AFIK, there is no way to enable WU unless the auto update service is
running. At least no workaround I have found yet.
