Is it necessary to download SP2 in order to use Movie Maker 2? I have heard
some negative affects of SP2 on other programs. Can I download Movie Maker
two without the service pack (SP 2)?

What "negative affects" (sic)?
SP2 is vital, and XP is all the more smoother for it.
