Is it possible to update to Service Pack 2 and not update
from Movie Maker 1?

I've had MM1 on one computer and MM2 on the other for a
while, and I don't want to have to lose the use of MM1.
Despite the features of MM2, I find there are still
things about MM1 that I find better than the 'update'.
But I recognise that for security updates, I will soon
have no choice but to update to SP2. I don't want to lose
MM1!! Any help gratefully received.

You are right about some desirable feature in MM1. And it *is* possible to
keep both MM1 and MM2 at the same time.

Before you update to MM2 go to the folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker and
rename the file movimk.exe to mm1.exe. Afterwards update to MM2 or 2.1 via
SP2. Once the dust is settled create a link to mm1.exe so that you can run
it easily. Both version can also run at the same time.

Only executable moviemk.exe from SP1 installation is needed as the other
related DLLs etc are preserved through the upgrade process.

hope it helps.
