Since I installed SP2 I do not get any automatic updates,
even if I know there is 2 critical ones waiting to be
downloaded. My automatic update is turned on. I added
the site to the exclusions in the pop up blocker,
and in the firewall. Any other solution would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I ran into the same thing but my problem was the pop-up blockers & firewalls.
What me so long to figure it out is that I didn't think about my Norton
Firewall and
multiple pop-up blockers installed before sp2. They all must be configured
or turned off. I hope it is that simple for you. Good luck!

The defualt look-up for automatic updates is 3:00 AM. You might want to
condier changing the time it check for updates to a time that your
computer's usually on.

One option is don't use automatic updates. They only come out once a
month, as a rule, on the second tuesday of the month. Just check the WU
site periodically.

Thanks Hyberdpc for your reply. Unfortunately it will
not be that simple since I only use the windows firewall
and pop up blocker at this time.

Have a nice evening.

You pointed right on the problem. I will change the time
it checks for updates, and see what will happen.

Thank you Mr. Bryant

That is what I did'nt want to do. I wanted to see if the
auto update was doing the job it is supposed to do. It
does'nt since a critical update is waiting for 3 weeks on
MS site. I posted this question on a lot of forums and
realized that the best way to do it is manually, even if
MS says differently.

Thanks for posting & have a nice evening.

come out once a

Just check the WU

I always do it manually, and actually I download the update to my
computer and burn it to storage for later use if needed, then run the
udpate from the file.
