SP2...an upgrade?

I just installed Service Pack 2 and had to uninstall it because once it was
on my Gateway system it wouldn't let me open certain links to various
websites (especially when that link opened a new window). In fact, I couldn't
even post to this group until I removed SP2 from my system. When the link was
selected, the window would lock with the title bar turning gray. I tried the
standard stuff: turning off SP2's Pop-Up Blocker and Firewall. I didn't have
any luck.
Anyone have any answers, thoughts, or ideas? If so, I would be interested in
hearing about others who might have this problem but, since they HAVE SP2,
who knows if they can even get through to post here?
Thanks.

After I installed SP2 it firewalled my LAN connection which disabled it and
couldn't connect to the Internet. I ran a new set up for my DSL modem under
the upgrade, went to my LAN connection at Networks connection in Control
Panel, searched for the connection properties and disabled the firewall.
(Windows XP has a built in firewall for its Internet connections);SP2 turns
on the firewall.

You also would like to do this
Go to Control Panel click on the Windows Security Center icon and turn off
the firewall.

If you are referring to Internet Explorer blocking things after installation
of XP SP2, you are correct since that is one of the new security features.
If you want to overcome that, set your mouse pointer on the narrow line
sitting under the IE Toolbar and right click it to see your options.
