SP1a Crashes

I am using a Time computer with a 1400Mhz processor and
Via graphics and sound chipset and am having problems
installing the SP1a update. I got it direct from
Microsoft Via CD the update crashes each time I try to
install. I am aware that others have been experiencing
the same problems. I tried to install from a completely
fresh installation (nothing else installed) but it still
wouldn't work. Any advice on the matter would be much
appreciated.
