SP1 Update

I get this message when I try to download and run SP1
update:
Windows XP SP1 is incompatible with this version of
Windows. For more information, contact Microsoft.

Has anyone came across this and know what I can do. I'm
trying to update to install WPA patch.

Are you sure that you have a legal copy of XP ?
SP 1 will refuse to install on some pirated installs.

The only cases I have seen where SP1 refuses to install
are when one tries to use the 64 bit on a 32 bit system or
vice versa, or where someone has tweaked with the WPA
product activation files (as is done in the illegal copies).

Have you downloaded the network install and run it locally,
or are you trying to use the express install version over network?

I've tried running Express SP1 and also deployment over
our network with the Network version but to no avail. My
copy of XP is legal, activated an registered so I'm still
a bit lost.

Have you exhausted IBM support on this ? It may be something
specific with their OEM release of XP . . .
