Hi there,

I installed Windows XP SP1 yesterday hoping that my
system would become more stable and secure. But when I
was done installing I found out that my microphone
stopped working, which is pretty hard for me as I use my
microphone daily. Then I thought that my mic might be
broken, so I screwed and open and took a look with a
lupe, but the wiring was still OK. So then I connected
the mic to another computer with Win98 SE installed on
it, mic worked fine. Then I dug up an old microphone, of
which I knew had bad wiring, so I soldered that one back
together, tried it on my XP machine. Didn't work out.
Then I put it on the Win98 SE computer and again it did
work there. So I have 2 mics here who do work on Win98 SE
and not on XP SP1. Does anyone know what the problem
might be ? All my settings are correct, as it did work
before the SP1 install and I haven't changed a setting
since and from what I can see, neither did SP1 by itself.

Thanks in advance,
John.

It seems to be that after installing SP1 many people are
experiencing different problems. I can't even access
Windows update any more, along with many other problems.
CD drive wont work, settings not allowing ActiveX
controls, can't use anything that requires my username
and password on MSN or other Microsoft programs. I am
wondering if the Service pack may be the problem. I've
tried scanning for viruses and everything

First thing I tried after I installed SP1 and noticed
that my mic was dead. Sadly this was of no avail.
