I wanted to install the patch for msBlaster on my win 2000
Server OS. REcieved a message that I needed at least SP3
before the patch can install. Tried to install SP4, the
operation aborted because of dll could not be removed. By
some ingenious insight I decided to install SP1 to see if
it would install. After install I rebooted, now the
startup hangs at Preparing Network Connections....if I
start in Safe Mode...the start up hangs after I enter my
username & password. Tried all other features in Safe
Mode...the start up hangs at various places.
Any help is appreciated.

Dave, unless you created in image of your machine before applying the SP
(using something like DriveImage or Ghost), your only option is to try
an inplace upgrade. Boot w/ the W2K CD and reinstall W2K over the
existing installation. Data will be preserved, but you may have to
reinstall software.

Thanks for the reply. I thought of doing an in place
upgrade.....and have a new problem...I've tried to boot
using the 4 set up floppies and get this error with the
2nd disk.....Unable to load HALACPI.dll..error 7...set up
cannot continue. Booting using the CD is not an
option..even though I disabled all other options other
than boot from CDRom, it won't boot to the CD.
What next?
