SP-2

Every time I install SP-2 with-in a week or so my system becomes slower and
slower the minute I remove SP-2 and re-install SP-1 everything returns to
normal.

I have installed SP-2 from a rom and then went to windows update for the
obvious reasons, I have also installed SP-2 as a download same problems. I
have removed all programs that may conflict such as firewalls etc. Nothing
helps SP-2 Slows my system to the point it is necessary to restore every week
or so.

I am using XP-Home edition and have an AMD-64 Athlon CPU. My system (Hard
Drive) is over 92% free and fragmentation is not a problem. I have 1.2 G of
RAM.
I have attempted to use SP-2 on three separate times all with the same
results.

SP-1 works great
SP-2 sucks

There obviously is something going on.

Have you checked for anything that might be consuming your cpu in task
manager when it does start to slow down?
 
CPU is not working system appears to be lost!

It is unlikely that SP2 directly affected your computer as the initial
period of installation went without hitch.. that is not to say that
something else wasn't affected by SP2, however.. as per the other reply, you
might want to see what is doing it rather than summarily remove SP2..
 
SP-2 has problems that need to be corrected, I received an e-mail that
informed me several companies have removed SP-2 from there computers and
reinstalled SP-1 due to a general slow down comparable too the problem I am
having. Maybe Microsoft will come out with SP-3 and correct the problems
hiding in SP-2.

I received an E-mail that informed me that if I sent money to a
person in Nigeria I would get lots more back.

An E-mail message is a form of communication. Just like other
communications, some tell you things that are true, and some tell
you things that are false. Don't believe everything you read,
whether it comes in the form of E-mail or not.

I have had zero problems with SP2 here, on the several machines
I've installed it on, and I know many many others who have also
had no problems. I know of only a single person who had trouble
with SP2, and he was badly infested with spyware before
installing it; almost certainly, those spyware infestations were
at the root of his problem.

I don't claim theat SP2 is perfect, or that nobody has had any
problems with it. There's no way I could know that either of
those things is true; in fact I doubt very much that either of
them is. But I do know, from my personal experience and the
experience of many others who have reported their experiences to
me, that problems with it are very rare.
