I have Black Ice as my firewall and I have SP 2 firewall turned off. It does
not recognize my Black Ice and continues to pop up warning that no firewall
is turned on. How can I make it recognize Black Ice

At Black ice's website I found this which should answer your question:

A future release will address the problem of communication between
Black Ice and SP2's Security Center.

Unfortunately for you (and fortunately for them) they not only do not
estimate the release date of the fix for SP2 communications. At least you
know they admitted it almost two months after the release of SP2, which
means they tested it after the final release and not before.

Will BlackICE PC and Server Protection work with Windows XP Service Pack 2?

However, their latest release was AFTER this article was written. It does
NOT say anywhere I could find in the release notes that it works better with
SP2, but it does state that one of the requirements is "Windows XP Pro (SP2)
/ Home (SP2)" (right under "Windows XP Pro (SP1) / Home (SP1)" - hehe) - so
maybe they fixed it in the newest release. Have you tried updating?

LOL, HOW LONG did these people have to prepare for SP2!!! It's like
bolting the barn door after the horses have bolted.....!!

Hi

As Black Ice haven't released an update to it's product that
communicate with SP2's Security Center:

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.
