I need to install an IR module on my A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 board for
syncing my PDA. Trying to find a source is driving me to distraction.
The part number is not given in the manual. I've plowed thru 41,000+
headers on this group looking for any reference to the module or to
any Asus IR module in general. No dice. I've done Google searches
til my fingers are sore. I now have at least four possible part
numbers and still no source. Ever source named in the messages turns
out to be a dead end, either out of business or no longer stocks the
part.

Can anybody who knows what this part's real number is and where to lay
hands on one please have mercy on this poor country boy and just tell
me what it is and where I can buy it? Thanks in advance for any info
you can supply.

I have seen these on ebay. Keep your search very general at first.
Check the pinouts on the motherboard because someone sales a generic
irda module on e-bay that will work with almost any motherboard.

Good luck.

Something even more convenient, would be one of these - it is
a USB based IRDA module. Note that this is better than using the
motherboard header, as the USB based design can do FIR (4Mb/sec)
mode, whereas the motherboard one is limited, I think, to
115Kbaud. This limit is due to the fact that it shares a COM
serial interface for its data stream. As for whether this
particular manufacturer makes good designs, who knows ?
You may want to look for similar devices and also user comments.
