When installing software applications from a CD directly,
the system tells me that it can't read the source file.
The only way I can load applications is by copying the
entire disk to the hard drive then run the installation
routine. How can I install software directly from the CD?

First, do your CD drive have any trouble reading any other disks or is this
just something that happens when trying to install an application.

Second, are these the actual application CDs or copies.

Third, are you running a firewall and antivirus software. If yes, you might
try turning them off before running setup and see if that resolves the
issue. NOTE: before disabling or shutting your firewall, be sure you are
not connected to the Internet. If on a broadband connection, temporarily
disconnect the modem. Once the application is installed or you've been able
to test this option, re-enable the firewall before you reconnect the modem.
