Source file missing?

Tried to save my movie, it said source file(s) missing or have been moved.
The movie and accompaning music play fine on the computer so how could file
be missing or moved? I edited some of the music (shortend) after importing
to MM. Could that be the problem? I checked the original DV tapes I imported
to make this movie , their stil there and play. I have plenty of space since
adding an external HD.

Are all the files you imported into Movie Maker
saved on your hard drive? The Movie Maker
project file does not include the source files so
if they are moved or deleted the program loses
the path. Do you see Red Xs in Movie Maker
instead of the thumbnails?

Maybe the following article will offer some ideas:

After posting I went back and tried to save again, I got the same message
but must have overlooked the "modified after import" portion. So I guess that
answers my question . I edited some of the music to fit specific clips
(8mm) of my movie. So aside from adding the full original songs, any
suggestions?

I cannot guarantee results but Movie Maker
sometimes has issues with JPEG, MPEG
and MP3 files. Maybe if you converted the
..mp3 to .wma or .wav before importing you
would have better luck.

A simple way to convert the .mp3 is to play
it with Windows Media Player while recording
it with the narration option in Movie Maker.

The result is a .wma file. Then reimport the
..wma file.

Instructions in the right pane of the following article:
