Hi Folks;

I use Front Page 2000 on two client machines (a desktop & a laptop) and they
publish to an IIS 5 machine with extensions installed.

I work on the same website with both machines. Is there a way to synchronize
both machines so that they always have the same up to date content?

As an example, I do a bunch of work on my desktop and publish it - that's
the latest content. I then go over to my laptop and it's content is a week
old. How do I get the current content from the web server?

Thanks very much!
Dave

Publish it back from the remote server to your computer. Or, publish from
one computer to another.

Hi Tom;

Thanks for the reply.

How do I publish back from the remote server?

I'm using FP 2000

Open the remote site in FrontPage:
File->Open Web, and choose or type in your domain name in the form
http://www.example.com (exactly the same as the address you normally
Publish to)
Then when logged in and the web is open -
File->Publish Web and browse to an existing folder on your hard disc
where you want the web site.

(note: this example uses an FTP URL - if your site has FP extensions,
use http:// and not ftp://)

Thanks Ron;

I think I found another way - I open the web on the client, edit it as
needed and then publish it back to the server. I do the same thing on both
machines and that way the server always has the freshest copy.

I'm the only author so as long as each machine gets the page from the
server, edits it and then sends it back to the server it always has the
latest content.

I only tested it by deleting all local copies of the web but it seems to be
working.... :-)

Best & Thanks!
Dave
