Soundstorm question.

Hi all,

I use the on-board sound on my A7N8X-Deluxe (Rev.2) with my Inspire 5.1
speakers, but I have noticed a problem cropping up in certain games. It
sounds like everything is going on in a cave, lots of echo and reverb -
very odd. I did notice though, that disabling the EAX in the game setup
seems to stop this happening. I thought the SoundStorm (or whatever the
onboard sound is called) was EAX capable?

Also, I'm running BIOS 1005, but I see various people have 1006 and 1007,
is it worth flashing it up?

how about going into the Soundstorm Panel and changing the
effects????....maybe you have it on "Cave"
 
I have Uber Bios 1007 in mine..and I have the same board no issue..so am not
sure if that could be it or not.

There are 3 versions of EAX, I'm sure SoundStorm supports EAX2, but I would
have to verify if it supports EAX3 or not. I know that many of the sound
driver updates have been EAX fixes for certain games in the past.

If you have not already updated your nForce drivers to 3.13, I suggest you
do that first.
Also, I'm running BIOS 1005, but I see various people have 1006 and 1007,
is it worth flashing it up?

Personally I use the 1007 Uber. The standard 1007 is identical in
performance, just with less options available, most of which you will not
ordinarily require. I recommend both.

1005 is the minimum BIOS version I could possibly recommend, but 1007 exists
for a reason, some peoples philosophy is "if it ain't broke, don;t fix it",
mine is more along the lines of "if it's newer, get it; unless I know of a
reason otherwise". It works well for me. :-)

Not sure which drivers I'm using offhand, shall have to check. Where would
I obtain the 'Uber' strain of 1007 from?
