I am not playing anything on my computer but there is sound coming out.
People talking or music. It is very soft but I can still hear it. I can
still play music on my computer and can hear my music, but when there is
nothing playing, it is like I am getting a radio program through my speakers.
Help.
 
Do you live near a radio/television station's broadcast tower ? Sounds
like your puter is acting like a radio (: If so, you will need to get and
install what are called "traps" in your cables which filter out radio/t-v
frequencies.Try Radio Shack for assistance.

and that may be exactly what's happening. What quality are your speakers?
Are they shielded? Try moving them to a few different positions in an
effort to eliminate the interference you're hearing.
 
LTNS :) I read that post and 36 years of amateur (ham) radio kicked in.
Our big problem (when I first got into it) was messing up neighbors'
televisions. But a computer, being an electronic instrument, is just as
vulnerable. Hope moving stuff around cures it. But ANY cord, be it power,
speaker, even printer, needs to either be moved or shielded/trapped.

If your efforts fail, one other thing to try is to scan both AM and FM on
your radio, even your t-v channels, when this happens to match programming
with what you hear on the computer. Broadcasters, by law, have to make
reasonable efforts to mitigate interference. If you get a "match", contact
the station found as the cause.

Without getting TOO technical, to the best of my knowledge,
computer-utilized frequencies do NOT fall into the radio/television
broadcast frequencies.
