A sound is made while loading EVERY new page. I've tried
going into the control panel and changing the sound event
for the internet, but it already says "none" and the
sounds keep coming!!! Help! Where else can I look? What
else can I do? I don't want to just turn the volume off--
then I can't hear anything at all.

Sounds like your system has been hijacked and some malware
or spyware has infected it. I had a similiar problem and I
used Spybot, which did get rid of a lot of problems, like
redirection of my browser through another site, strange
sounds and strange additions to my browser.

both Spybot and Adware are free downloads, read user
reviews to see which one or both you want to use. Good
luck!
Download SpyBot Search & Destroy

You say you have disabled sound for "The Internet", but have you looked
further down the list for "Internet Explorer" sounds and removed those?
There are sounds for starting and completing navigation which may be enabled
on your system.
