Sounds being played in any program crash the computer (after various amounts
of time). These can be from CD's playing or ripped files playing, internet
files making sounds, or any other source. The computer has an Asus KT400
Dragon Ultra motherboard with a CMI8738 sound card. I have tried wiping the
drive and starting over but still get crashes. I have attempted to determine
culprit programs by using system restore to go back to states before program
installs, but to no avail. I am ready to consider disabling the onboard sound
and putting in a cheap sound card to see if that remedies it, unless someone
has another suggestion.
