Sounds Are Pausing And Stuttering

I've called the Helpline at least 3 times and nothing has
helped, I have also gone to the the websites for
Microsoft and that of my computer's. The People insist
that the problem is in the Sound Driver and that i need a
new piece of hardware...I'm on hold right now, which I
normally am for about an hour. So Do You have any last
suggestions?
