soundfiles and Media player

Hi!

I'm a teacher and I frequently use office programs in my classes with young kids. We take digital pictures and sound recordings from field trips and use them in presentations on the computer. Both in Word and Powerpoint I have an annoying problem with hyperlinks to soundfiles. For example:
I put in a nice picture of a bird, and with it a hyperlink to the sound of that bird. When the kids click on the bird they'll hear it. The problem is that Windows Media player opens as well (on top) and covers half the screen. How do I "hide" the Media player? I want it out of eyesight for the kids...

What version of PowerPoint are you using? By hyperlinking to the sound file
you are causing the Media Player to open. If you have the WAV version of
the sound file, you can stack two copies of the picture and animate the top
picture to "appear" and attach the sound to the animation. Then, when a
student clicks on the picture, the sound will play and the Media Player will
not appear.

What Sonia said...but also...how are you adding the sounds to your
powerpoint presentation?

Probably the preferred method is "insert menu>sounds>from file"

Then you can set a "custom animation" for when the sound will play, or set
it to play after clicking...say a picture
