soundcard

Could you explain what you are trying to do? Also, would you happen to
know your motherboard specs? Most motherboards today support onboard
sound except for someof the high-end, high-performance ones. Also did
you lose your sound after Windows XP Updates? I did, but luckily I was
at a point where I needed to reformat my machine and so after fiddling
around a little to see if I can fix it, I reformatted the machine and
loaded all manufacturer drivers and all's well now.

In order to install a sound card:
1. Buy a sound card (find a compatible one that serves your needs)
2. Know how to install it inside your computer on the motherboard; make
sure the PC is turned off and you have no static on your before opening
it up
3. Reboot and Load the software/drivers
4. If all goes well, you should hear the sound from your speakers when
you reboot.

my computor says i need to install a soundcard, how do i go about
doing that?

You should give us more information:

1. What kind of computer do you have; i.e., is it an OEM (HP, Dell,
Compaq, etc.) or generic home-built?

2. Is this a new problem? Did you have sound before?

3. If you had sound before, what sound hardware did you have?

4. If you had sound before and now you are getting an error message,
post the exact text of the message.

Generically, to install a sound card:

1. Buy a sound card.
2. If the computer has onboard sound, disable it in the BIOS.
3. Open the computer while it is unplugged and put the sound card in a
PCI slot.
4. Turn on the computer and complete the installation per the
instructions that came with the sound card you bought.
