Hello,
I have a powerpoint presentation, with sound in it.
If i play the presentation the sound plays.
however if i click off of the presentation to do other stuff, the sound
stops.
is there a way to always let it play?

also in design mode, can i take it off of the presentation?
when i click on the sound there is no menu to save as sound file.

thanks in advance

When you click off to something else, PowerPoint is paused. That's the way it
works. PowerPoint must have "focus" in order to continue processing.

It's hard to tell you how to access the sound file without further information.
Are you accessing the presentation from your hard drive, a CD, or the Web? If
there is no sound file in the folder where the presentation is stored, then it's
probably an embedded WAV file. In that case you would need to open the
presentation in PowerPoint and then save it as a Web Page and hunt for the WAV
file in the files that are generated.

thanks,for the help.
it is a ppt on my local drive.
in design mode i see a speaker icon.
however you cannot right click and say save as...

Right click it and choose "Edit Sound Object". Does the Sound Options dialog
say File: [Contained in presentation] or does it point to some location on your
system?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]
[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=329820]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the built-in capability to allow a full-screen
slide

show to continue to advance automatically when the show is not the
foreground

application (does not have focus), so you would have to resort to writing

your own solution or using a 3rd party add-in.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality natively (not requiring
add-ins or ActiveX controls), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR
OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft by either:

A) If you are using Microsoft's web-based, online newsreader for Office
communities (http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx),
click on the "New" drop-down menu and choose "Suggestion for Microsoft"
from directly within the newsreader web page.

OR,

B) If you are using another newsreader (such as Microsoft Outlook Express),
submit your suggestion using your web browser at the following address:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
