I am trying to capture a video using my vcr. no problem with the video but i can not get sound. any suggestions?

Pardon my play on words (see subject title)...

Loss of sound can be tricky. There are several variables.

In some cases, the audio simply wasn't recorded, usually because the input
feed for audio wasn't properly selected in the audio mixer control (normally
right-click on the small audio icon at far right of Windows Start bar.)

In some cases, the audio is recorded okay. Problem is, during playback, the
mixer control for audio (wave) can sometimes get muted. The audio may have
sounded fine (and it was) during the recording process. But, when you go to
playback the recorded file, the operating system messes up and mutes the
WAVE mixer control.

In another case, using Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 software, the DVD
Builder could sometimes end up appearing as if the imported video did not
contain audio even though it did in fact have the audio. After burning to
DVD, playback of the DVD would include the audio. I believe this was unique
to a specific update and later corrected in a newer revision.

In yet another case, I've seen problems with the WDM audio driver.
Downloading the latest driver from the OEM of the video capture card
corrected the problem.

These are just instances I"ve personally experienced. There may very well
be other possibilities.
