I get a two tone sound at irregular intervals, but could not figure out what is it telling me. It is not included in the Sounds of Control Panel.
There does not seem to be a pattern to it nor it's confined to only a certain application.
How do I find out where is it coming from? Would it show up in any logs and if so how do I turn them on?
I uninstalled the Microsoft Sounds from the Office 2003.
I suspect it may have something to do with memory usage or Network connection. (I am on cable 24/7).
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Hmmm... Check the Windows\media directory for .WAV files. Try
listening to each one to see if any of them is the one. If so, which one?
If not, what kind of sound is it? You say it's 2 tones but what two tones?
High-low? High-higher? etc...

Have you checked the User's Manual for your PC?

It could be an audible alert specific to your model of PC.

Does it come from your speakers or the internal speaker inside the case? If
it's the internal one, it's probably a motherboard alert, maybe a temperatureor
fan speed warning.

The only two tone sound I remember hearing is when you connect/disconnect USB
devices. Any chance any of your usb stuff has a loose cable (usb or power)?
