i have lost my sound! everything i check on says that this
program is working properly? !! it prompts saying no
active mixer devices. sounds and devices in control panel
is greyed out and cannot move volume control or mute or do
anything ? what gives help before i jump
 
Check that your sound card is working correctly. It may
have become burnt out or disfunctional. A place to check
might be Device Manager in Control Panel > System >
Hardware. Have a look at sound devices.

Step through the troubleshooters in Win XP help as well.

Yeah I have the same problem, at first i went through and
uninstalling and reinstalling the soundcard, then making
sure the speakers hadnt been knocked out..nothing works,
we have tried the mixer as you have. But nothing. Device
manager says all is working properly.

HELP some one..
 
I find if i reboot 2 or 3 times, then the sound icon
comes back and the sound mixer is working. what is
stopping it from loading?
