I just installed win xp pro and there is no sound. When I
try to play a mp3 it says that no sound card is detected
or is being used by some other program. What do I do?

You need to install the drivers for the sound card. What sort of sound card
do you have?

Hi Steve,

Do you have any other application running in the background which is using
the sound card (real player...?)
Check Device Manager for any exclamation & missing drivers under Sound Card
section.
